In 2004, CARE Foundation initiated an English Language Development Program called ACCESS. They’re doing a commendable job at teaching English to students of government schools who’ve never been taught English in the past. A couple years back, a team of CARE students also participated in LUMUN.
This year, we plan to have at least one team from CARE and make sure they do considerably well at LUMUN. In order to achieve that, we’re visiting their Access to English classes and talking to the kids about topics like public speaking, world issues and national crisis and helping them put their knowledge of English as a language to actual use. Later on, we’ll include presentation skills, different styles of public speaking, etc. Once we identify a good lot of kids from these centers, we’ll train them for MUN in general and LUMUN in specific. And that team, inshAllah, shall do us proud!
