Performers of "Global Village"Under the banner of Student Mentorship with the affiliated NGO – Save Pakistan, LUMUN Social Responsibility Program initiated dramatics workshops at Masha’l Primary School in Lahore for two weeks before the LUMUN conference began. The final product of these efforts was showcased at a drama night organized by the social events team at LUMUN’09 on 1st January, 2009. The children, in collaboration with actors from the Dramatics Society at LUMS (Dramaline) scripted and performed in front of thousand delegates who were attending the conference.

The play was titled “Global Village” and it symbolized the might of the superpowers of the world, the hegemony of the United States and the plight of countries indebted to these superpowers. It was set in a rural background with different characters representing different countries. The character of USA, Israel, Pakistan, India and China were much appreciated by the audience. The performers including the children from Masha’l Primary School enjoyed interacting with each other and built lasting friendships. More importantly, the issues highlighted served as a food for thought not just for the performers but for the captivated audience as well!
