In the field of Environment, the following specific programs have been developed:

E1 Grand Prix – A cycling event to generate awareness about sustainable lifestyles and highlight the need for sustainability in developing-world cities.

Plantation Drive – A group of students will be taken for a tree-planting drive during the conference where the aim is not just to plant trees but create awareness amongst the residents of the area to take ownership of the trees and the environment.

In-Conference Sustainability – Using recycled paper for all printing, instituting a no-littering policy during the conference and complimenting it with various waste-collection drives.

During the LUMUN ’09 Conference, the following E-squared (Comprehensive)initiatives will be carried out:

ECommunity Challenge – Encourage participants to identify areas in their community where they can bring about a transformation either to promote education or to protect and sustain the environment. All projects will be showcased atLUMUN ’09 Community Challenge Forum and will compete for E2 Fellowships which will provide them with mentorship, and possibly financial, support.

LUMUN E2 Day – Hosted by LUMUN SRP, the E2 Day will have the E1 Grand Prix Final, a live, art competition themed “Our World, Our Future”, and display of all art work, theatrical and musical performances by NGO-school children, with the help of LUMUN delegates, at an evening gala.
