The annual All-Pakistan LUMS Model UN Conference has been the anchor conference of the society for the past five years. Held at the LUMS Campus for five days, it has brought together over a 1000 students every year from schools, colleges and universities across Pakistan and abroad.
LUMUN 2009
This year’s conference, LUMUN ’09, will be held from December 30, 2009 – January 3, 2010 at the LUMS Campus. It will simulate 18 Committeesof the UN General Assembly, ECOSOC, Specialized Agencies and Historic committees over the 5-day span. The committee sessions will be supplemented with Committee-specific Workshops where experts (academics and diplomats) will add to the delegates’ knowledge on the topics under discussion.
To add to the learning experience, this year’s LUMUN will featureDiplomatic Meets, sessions with prominent diplomats in Pakistan to give aspiring ambassadors an insight into diplomatic life. On general issues such as security and environment, Video-Conferencing Sessions are being organized with renowned global experts.
Evenings are a relaxed affair for the hard-working delegates with Social Events every night, including the signature Global Village, a New Year’s Concert, Cabaret Night and a Grand Ball! Details of each are given in the Social Events section.
To round up this comprehensive experience, LUMUN Social Responsibility Program has organized several activities to promote active citizenship amongst the delegates. Executed on the E2 Day, the activities are centered on the goals of Education and Environment and include the E2 Community Challenge, a bicycling championship E1 Grand Prix, Plantation Drive, Art competition, all of which will be showcased during the day and at the Cabaret Night.
